Biofilm development and hydraulic conditions in sewers

Résumé

The purpose of the paper is to study the development of biofilms on coupons exposed to wastewater in sewers. The coupons are made of different materials (glass, PMMA, concrete, brick). They are analysed by image analysis to evaluate the amount of biofilm attached to them. The relations between opacity or darkness and the number of days the coupons have been immersed in the wastewater show that biofilm detachment is easier from smooth surface (glass, PMMA) than from rough ones (concrete, brick)
